December,2018

「十二月可算是矛盾的月份。一邊廂大家期望着聖誕及新年假期的來臨，可以歇息一下及享受天倫之樂。另一邊廂，這樣就到了二零一八年的最後一個月，不知道大家在年初的承諾，能否實踐嗎？新一年又會否有新的計劃？無論如何，能夠反思一下、勇於面對自己、永不放棄，這才是正確的態度。在任何時候，也可當機立斷，不作拖延，活在當下，這才會無悔一生。正如我們的集誦隊，繼英文集誦隊取得佳績後，普通話集誦隊在第七十屆香港學校朗誦節中取得亞軍，可算雙喜臨門。我們的學生在短短三個月，在不同的比賽上取得佳績，這樣證明我們的學生是有潛能的，更要多謝老師不辭勞苦、孜孜不倦去指導學生，讓他們在不同的舞台上發光發亮。

It is contradictory in December. Everyone is waiting for the Christmas and New Year holidays as they can take a rest and enjoy the family gathering. However, it is the last month of 2018. Do you still remember the promise you made in the beginning of the year? Can you achieve it? In 2019, do you have other new plan? Whatever it is, if you have time to do the introspection, face your own problems without giving up, it is the best attitude. You have to make your own decision without procrastination and you will not feel regret in your life. Like our choral speaking teams, after winning the first runner-up in the English team, our Putonghua team also won the first runner-up on the 70th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. Our students just had 3 months to practice and they could perform so well and won lots of prizes, medals and trophies. It proofs that our students really have potential in different aspects. Thank you so much to the teachers who try their best to train and teach the students and let them show their talent in different stages.

我們的老師也有着卓越的表現。鍾世傑老師在第四屆商務全港師生寫照比賽中，取得優異獎。吳美華副校長、劉翠茵老師及吳美婷老師獲得由香港教育大學頒發的實習學校「優秀教師啓導教師的獎項」。這項殊榮代表老師教學出色，能有效地指導準老師，為準老師作好準備，為教育界出一分力。

Besides students, our teachers are also talented. Mr. Chung Sai Kit won the merit award in the 4th Commercial Press Teacher-students Pictorial Writing Competition. Our Vice Principal Ms. Ng Mei Wah and our teachers Ms. Lau Chui Yan and Ms. Ng Mei Ting were awarded as Outstanding Teacher Mentor Award. This award means that the teacher who can teach well and he/she can help the new teacher get familiar with the teaching duties and the teaching pedagogies.

十二月八日（星期六）是家長日，藉着這次機會，班主任可以與家長談論學生在校情況；老師也可以了解一下學生在家的生活習慣。今年有點不同，我們在禮堂舉行書展。家長及學生也願意在學校多留一會，一起分享閱讀樂，他們會互相討論，又或者自行聚精會神地看書，畫面十分溫馨。

It was the Parent Day on 8th December, 2018. It was such a precious opportunity for the class teacher(s) and the parents to talk face-to-face about the students. Class teachers(s) would have deeper understanding of the students at home and also the parents can know more about their child performance at school. It was a bit different this year as a book fair was held in the school hall. Parents and students were willing to stay at school longer to enjoy reading books. They were talking and sharing with those new books. Some of them were concentrated to read, what a nice and harmonious moment!

十二月十二日（星期三）午息時候，我們在禮堂舉行了「新加坡英語遊學團2019」抽籤儀式。由於參加者眾多，我們抽出40位幸運兒，抽到的學生，當然歡天喜地。不能被抽到的，也沒有流露失望的表情，更期待着明年旅遊的國家呢！

On 12th December, 2018 at the lunch recess, the lottery for the ‘Singapore study tour 2019’ was held because too many students wanted to participate. Finally, we drew 40 students to join and they were so happy. Those who cannot join, they did not show any disappointment but they had another expectation – which country we will go next year?

十二月十四日（星期五）內地的大江中心小學校長及老師訪校。他們參觀校舍、觀課及評課，我們之間有着專業對話，討論教育上不同的議題，由課堂設計及教學法，到現時教育政策及新趨勢，無所不談，大家的專業也提升了不少，大家能成為了教育諍友。

On 14th December, 2018, the principal and some teachers of Dà Jiāng Zhōng Xīn Primary School in China visited our school. They had school tour first. Then they observed the lessons and had a discussion afterwards. We had professional dialogues to discuss about different issues of education, from the lesson design to the teaching pedagogies, from the educational policy to the new trend of education, we talked a lot and our profession were enhanced. We became critical friends of educational field.

聖誕節是一個普天同慶的大日子。現在，大家藉着這個節日好好休息一下，各人也會為自己的摯愛準備禮物或聖誕咭去表達心意，這種展示愛的行為是需要的，這樣會令世界更美。學校當然抓緊這次機會，為學生設計一些有趣的英語活動，希望學生可以學以致用。十二月二十日（星期四）是我們第一次舉辦的聖誕英語活動日。學生們不單可以藉着攤位遊戲、課室活動及電影欣賞中學習到英語，更有同學以英文表演唱歌、話劇、集誦等，這證明我們的學生不但多才多藝，而且對學習英文有着濃厚的興趣。當天更有超過100位幼稚園的師生及60多名幼稚園家長到校參與。另外，中學的老師及同學到校為我們準備攤位，為我們的學生學習出一份力。當天氣氛非常熱鬧，加上我們將所有的表演移師到操場，這份喜悅，也傳送到區內，加深區內居民對我們認識。衷心多謝老師們用心及辛勞地為同學的學習作準備。

我在「劉德容」已經過了四個月了！第一個長假期終於展開。這四個月，衷心多謝老師們及家長們的支持及學生們的愛護。學生們不時來到我的校長室談天及討論學習英文的問題，可惜人數不可以太多。為了解決這個問題，我在校長室門外加了一個信箱，方便同學們可以用另一個方法與我談天。每天我也期望收到信件，我會努力閱讀，甚至回覆（看看內容是否精彩！）。希望同學可以藉着寫信給我，從而提升中英文寫作水平。至於今個假期及農曆新年假期，相信我也留港在工作中渡過，為什麼？當準備好時，再向大家分享吧！祝大家聖誕快樂、身體健康、新年進步。二零一九年再見！

I have been working in LTY for 4 months. The first long holiday starts. In these four months, I really feel the support from the teachers and parents, the love and care from the students. Some students sometimes come to the Principal Room to talk to me and share the problems they encountered in learning English. It is pity that we cannot have too many students at the same time. For tackling this problem, I put a mailbox outside my room. Students can use another method to talk to me. I really have an expectation to receive students’ letters and I promise I will read it. If it is good, I will reply the letter, too. I wish all the students can enhance their Chinese and English standard through writing me letters. About the Christmas and New Year holiday and Lunar New Year holiday, I believe that I will stay at school and work in these holidays. Perhaps you may ask me why. Let me do the preparation first and I will tell all of you later. Last but not the least, wishing all of you have Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. More importantly, good health is a must. See you all of you in 2019!
